Fur flies at Fendi as Seoul puts ban on style house’s catwalk show

Fur flies at Fendi as Seoul puts ban on style house’s catwalk show
Style house Fendi has come under attack from the South Korean supervision for its plans to use fur in a high-profile runway show.
The Italian firm was set to hold an important style show in Seoul City next month before officials stepped in to demand they remove all fur from the show, or face a ban.
‘We have clearly confirmed social sentiment against fur goods,’ said Jong-Hyun Lee, spokesman for the Seoul City Government.
Fendi had planned to show 40 looks from the autumn/winter collection, including 20 fur items, as part of a series of events to introduction a new cultural centre built on the floating islands of Seoul’s Han River.
The City’s new edict comes in the wake of protest from Korea’s animal rights activist groups, and contradicts an earlier statement released by the Seoul government saying fur would be included in the upcoming show.
The media release confirming the style house’s use of fur was met with heavy criticism from animal rights pressure groups, forcing an about-turn by the government.
Korean officials warned Fendi they must remove items containing fur from the catwalk show, but received a rebuttal by the style house.
Nowadays the City has threatened the show will be cancelled altogether if Fendi will not promise to show a fur-free collection.
A cancellation would would be a serious blow for the style house, which counts on the Asian market for much of its support.
The occasion was set to be of a similar scale to one held on the Great Wall of China in 2007, which Fendi’s Korea office claims attracted 532 million viewers globaly.
Fendi say the recent no-fur ruling has come as a surprise.
‘I met with Seoul City Government officials previous March and at this meeting there was agreed mutual excitement and cooperation for the execution of this premier event,’ Fendi CEO Michael Burke told abc newscast.

Sarah Jessica Parker Appreciates Lady Gaga’s Style At Cannes
‘I think she’s in a league of her own,’ Parker says while making her own splash on the red carpet.
Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the most familiar women in the world of style. Even with no “Sex and the City” on the big or minor screen this year, she’s still a trendsetter wherever she appears. And at the Weinstein Corporation cocktail party for the 64th annual Cannes Film Anniversary, it was no surprise that the actress owned the red carpet in a white Dolce & Gabbana maxi-dress with embroidered details, complete with layers of pearl strands.
Unfortunately, Parker had just missed seeing another fashionista who made her way through Cannes, Lady Gaga. That didn’t stopover us from asking what she thought of the pop star’s always-changing style.
“I think she’s in a league of her own,” Parker said of Gaga. “I admire her aesthetic choices.”
Parker, who was at the festival to promote her new comedy “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” familiar that even though both she and Gaga are on top of their style game, their styles couldn’t be more changed.
“I think we have very changed silhouettes that we choose,” Parker said. “I don’t mean that in a judgmental way. I mean that she is an extraordinary, and singular and single person, and I have more of a pedestrian touch.”
As a red-carpet veteran, Parker knows how to clothing for any occasion, but since this was her first trip to the French Riviera, she said she didn’t feel like an expert on Cannes style.
“Who knows how effective I’ve been at it,” Parker said of her wardrobe choice. “This is my first time — I may have made grave errors. I don’t think I’m in a position to give any advice.”
What did you think of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Cannes look? Let us know in the comments.

The United States Court of Appeals has upheld a $7 million judgment against Real Housewife of New York star Sonja Morgan made by Hannibal Pictures and its owner Richard Rionda del Castro, which alleges she is personally liable for fraudulent conduct when a movie she agreed to fund, Fast Flash to Bang Time, was not made.

If you believe the prognosticators, the ad market –spurred by a rebounding economy and strong scatter market-- is prepared to come back in a robust way this year. Despite a season devoid of breakout hits, continued viewer erosion and the uncertainty surrounding the NFL, one leading analyst predicted the market for the big four networks could exceed $10 billion this year, eclipsing the 2004 record of about $9.5 billion. In return, the networks rolled out promising slates heavy on comedy, escapism and big ideas.
“Having had a number of years in which the increases were quite minor in the single digits and CPMs were only marginally improved, it appears as if the industry is poised for a significant growth spurt,” says a bullish Peter Roth, president of Warner Bros Television. “The health and wellbeing of the industry is important for everyone.”

EXCLUSIVE! Selena Gomez's Painted Horses Make Pink See Red

We love us some Selena Gomez and we love us some Pink. So the last thing we wanna see is these two gals fighting.

But the "Raise Your Glass" singer is blasting the Wizards of Waverly Place starlet.

Why? Read on to find out...

TWITTER: Follow Marc!

"If there are any animal activists around Malibu-at Leo Cabrillo State beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video," Pink tweeted yesterday. "Shame."

It doesn't appear that Pink knew who was shooting the vid, but it appears it was Ms. Gomez.

She was on the beach yesterday with a film crew, a hottie costar evoking a bit of Jesus, as well as two lavender-colored horses.

We're still waiting for comment from Gomez's camp but sounds like if they followed the rules (and we have no reason to believe they didn't), the horses were well taken care of. The American Humane Society's guidelines for painting and using makeup on animals includes the use of nontoxic products and spot checking for allergic reactions before production, among other things.

Perhaps Pink, a hardcore animal rights activist and supporter of PETA, is against using makeup of any kind on animals. "Artists," she tweeted, "should be more aware and responsible for their actions."

"There are no safe ways to paint a live horse or any animal," PETA spokesman Dan Mathews tells us. "They can have painful allergic reactions to chemicals and there's no way to know how an individual animal will react. Also, subjecting skittish animals like horses to extended periods of restraint and spraying is stressful and frightening."

If we know our Selena, we're sure she and her team were more than responsible while using the animals for her video.

Pink eventually found out it was a Gomez video. "oh lord, THAT'S whose video it was? Disney fans unite. here we go," she tweeted this afternoon, adding that Gomez "fans are angry with @pink."

That certainly doesn't change anything. "whether u r a fan of mine or whomEVER'S," Pink tweeted, "i won't stop speaking out about animal cruelty.i've taken responsibility in the past,so should she."

Meanwhile, did you see the cover of album foe Selena Gomez & the Scene's new album, When the Sun Goes Down? So cute!

And no tinted horses.

According to Lohan's declaration filed along with her petition, David Cocordan has called or texted her more than 100 times to express "delusional thoughts and irrational feelings about his belief that [he and Lohan] are in a relationship."

Lohan states that she has sicced her security director on Cocordan in the past, but that he has continued to "stalk and harass" her, following her to two public appearances and threatening to move close to her residence.

On May 11, Lohan says, he texted her, "I'm glad we are engaged," and told her he had a tattoo of her name. Then, on May 15, he texted her that he was on his way over to bring Lohan something. "I hope youll grant me a reception," Cocordan wrote, per the declaration.

Lohan says that a more graphic, profane text he sent on May 5 has left her fearing that he "intends to sexually assault me."

The declaration also states that an LAPD detective in the Threat Management Department looked into Corcodan and learned that he suffers from schizophrenia, is off his meds and has a "significant psychiatric history of acting on his delusional beliefs."

When contacted by E! News earlier this week when we got word that Lohan was becoming increasingly concerned about the man she has accused of stalking her, she told us, "I'm OK. Hiding out."

A Frosty Palin Wedding!

Add mother-in-law to Sarah Palin's résumé.

Track Palin, the eldest of her five children, got hitched to high school sweetheart Britta Hanson recently in a small and, if the snowy backdrop in the wedding photo is an indicator, chilly ceremony for which fleece and denim were the fabrics of choice.

But the couple's parents are definitely feeling all warm and cozy inside.

"Our families couldn't be happier!" Todd and Sarah Palin and Rev. Duane and Elizabeth Hanson said in a joint statement to People.

"These are two hard working, humble, active, studious young adults who grew up together. We're tickled that after two decades of friendship we proudly witnessed their marriage, knowing their new life together will be blessed."

Track, 22, had been dating Britta, 21, since high school. She is currently a nursing student at the University of Alaska and Track plans to join her after the upcoming commercial fishing season. He was deployed to Iraq for a year after high school as an Army Reservist.

"The Hanson and Palin families are ecstatic and proud that Britta and Track married in one of our favorite spots in America, spectacular Hatcher Pass, Alaska," the families continued, throwing a little marketing state pride in there for good measure. "It's a site we've all shared fun memories of skiing, snowboarding, hiking and snowmachining."

They say a larger party and celebratory ski weekend will be held this winter at the Alyeska Ski Resort.

As Paris celebrated her return to reality TV, a source tells us exclusively that Mueller skipped the shindig because "it's still not a good idea for her to be in a nightclub scene."

So where has the mama of two been since filming the Oxygen reality show, and what does she think of Ashton Kutcher replacing her ex Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men?

Rachel McAdams' homage to Marilyn Monroe—short platinum curls and fitted white dress that flares at the waist—even came complete with a leg-baring gust of wind after she left the NYC screening of Midnight in Paris. If only the hemline on her Louis Vuitton frock didn't droop on the ground and the torso came with a more flattering cut than this puckered neckline. Unfortunately, the result leaves the actress looking a little, um, deflated. Where's some of that Marilyn padding .

Check Out Miranda Lambert's Wedding Dress!

Miranda Lambert managed to make "something old" look like "something new" on her big day.

When the country cutie became Mrs. Blake Shelton last weekend, the songstress decided to don the actual wedding gown her mother wore when she swapped vows with Miranda's daddy.

"My parents have been married for 33 years, so this dress is already a good-luck charm," she tells Us Weekly (presumably before she got in some honeymoon fishing).

"I couldn't get over how beautiful she was," adds her new hubby.

EXCLUSIVE! Alex Pettyfer Proves He's Anything but Perfect—Check Out These I Am Number Four Flubs

It looks like I Am Number Four hottie Alex Pettyfer made a number of blunders while shooting the sci-fi action thriller.

But that's not necessarily a bad thing seeing how such mistakes simply gives fans of the flick a little something extra to enjoy when the movie gets released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 24.

Which Snow White Is Which? Blood 'n' Guts vs. Bloody Fun!

With so many fairy tales to choose from, it's pretty funny (or just competitive biz as usual) that two flicks centered on Snow White and her escapades are going to hit the big screen around the same time: Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman and Relativity Media's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.

And while the battle is continuing to look more and more Grimm—what with Universal bumping the date for its Kristen Stewart version to a few weeks before Relativity's reboot—we can't help but get a bit confused on which Snow White is which.

EXCLUSIVE! David Arquette Talks Scream: Is the Franchise Dead?

"I don't think there will be any more Screams," David Arquette recently told us at the Samsung 4G launch party in L.A. "Maybe if they relaunched it with some new people or something..."

As for if he'd even want to come back for more, he said, "I mean, I love doing the movies. I just don't know if there will be any more."

Franchise newbie Aimee Teegarden is a little more optimistic about the possibility of future installments.

"I know that they were talking about doing another trilogy..." she says. But would she return?

"In a heartbeat!" she said. "[Wes Craven]'s such a sweet guy and such a great director, knows exactly what he wants and is just very driven. And I think it's so amazing to understand and get to work with him as an actor."

No we want to hear from you. Is it time to hangup the ghostface killer mask or should Wes Craven try for more? Sound off below.

Miranda Lambert's Honeymoon: Something's Fishy

Well, what do you expect from the country-strong singer who harvested her own deer cutlets before her wedding?

Miranda Lambert, steeped in "honeymoon bliss," offered a few updates via Twitter today, including this photo of her hoisting (by its mouth, natch) her catch of the day during what presumably was a romantic bass-fishing trip for two.

And it sounds like she and hubby Blake Shelton, who tied the knot on Saturday, have all the amenities they need right at hand.

"Rewriting a Blake Shelton song: 'It's all about the ice! Now that we got us a machine we don't need to go to town...." Lambert tweeted before the fishing trip, a play on "It's All About Tonight."

Oprah Tapes Her Big Goodbye: Just How Many Stars Showed Up ?

Four horsemen didn't come thundering along, but Oprah Winfrey signing off from daytime TV sure seems like a good indicator of the apocalypse. (Whether it comes on Saturday or not.)

But at least the reigning talk-show queen, who pulled herself out of the Daytime Emmys running years ago because she just kept winning, went out true to form—surrounded by thousands of cheering, crying fans and oodles of celebrities.

The Oprah Winfrey Show commandeered Chicago's United Center to tape the two-part Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular, and she needed the nearly 20,000-seat arena to contain all the excitement.

Before the taping extravaganza got rolling, the Chicago Bulls' mascot, Benny the Bull, and the Blackhawks' Tommy Hawk were responsible for getting the crowd riled up, but they really didn't need any help in that department. One lucky gal even got proposed to at around 7 p.m.

But not long after Oprah's BFF, Gayle King, sauntered in with daughter Kirby, the Black Eyed Peas took the stage to really get the party started.

"Oprah Winfrey, today you are surrounded by nothing but love," said Tom Hanks after walking the lady of the hour, who was clad in regal purple, onstage to the tune of "I Gotta Feeling."  "Your studio wasn't big enough to hold it all, so here we are."

And, Hanks added, "Some might say pulling off this party has been a darn near mission impossible.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Expecting Baby

PARIS, France --
The expectant granddad has spilled the beans: Nicolas Sarkozy’s father told Germany’s top-selling newspaper that France’s model-turned-singer first lady is pregnant.

The Bild newspaper on Tuesday quoted Sarkozy’s father Pal Sarkozy as confirming that his son and wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy are expecting their first child together.

“Neither wants to know the gender beforehand, but I’m certainit will be a girl, and beautiful like Carla,” he’s quoted as saying.

Sarkozy’s office would not comment, saying it’s a private matter. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been coy about it in recent public appearances.

A pregnancy could be a potential strategic coup for Sarkozy, less than a year ahead of presidential elections. The incumbent’s popularity is in the doldrums, but a baby in the Elysee presidential palace could help voters relate to a man they have seen as increasingly out of touch with their worries.

Reports of her pregnancy first surfaced in late April, when gossip magazine Closer ran a story saying the 43-year-old first lady was three months pregnant. The magazine said that officials were keeping it under wraps because her age makes it a high-risk pregnancy.

On Monday, at the end of a French television interview with Bruni-Sarkozy about her foundation against illiteracy, host Jean-Pierre Pernaud said: “I know you hate talking about your private life, but I want to simply congratulate you.”

Bruni-Sarkozy responded with a big smile: “I congratulate you, too!”

The French first couple disappointed fans and organizers of the Cannes Film Festival by not appearing at the opening night last week. Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris,” which features the French first lady in a small but much-hyped role, opened the festival.

Bruni-Sarkozy told a radio interviewer she would sit out the festival “for personal and also for professional reasons,” spurring the pregnancy speculation.

From a wealthy family from the Italian city of Turin, Bruni-Sarkozy had a successful career as a model before becoming a singer-songwriter, known for her soulful lyrics and wispy voice. She’s also known for her topsy-turvy romantic life, which included relationships with the likes of Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.

She and Sarkozy married in early 2008. She has one son from an earlier relationship, and Sarkozy has three sons from his two previous marriages.

Single Leonardo DiCaprio Living It Up in Cannes

While Page Six reports Leo has been hanging in hotels with Blake Lively, our spies spotted him next to supermodel Naomi Campbell at the bash.

"He was drinking champagne straight from the bottle and puffing on a cigar," a source tells me.

Of course, he was trying to go incognito, rocking his signature baseball cap to the side.

So how does the single life suit him?

"He seems to be going out a lot," the source says. "There's been no Bar in sight...just pretty ladies."

Let's hope the former twosome don't bump into each other.

Bar attended Chopard's Happy Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend bash in Cannes just last night.

Leo's rep had on comment.

Schwarzenegger Acknowledges Fathering Child With Longtime Member Of Household Staff

LOS ANGELES, Calif.

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has acknowledged that he fathered a child with a member of his household staff, a revelation that apparently prompted wife Maria Shriver to leave the couple’s home before they announced their separation last week.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver jointly announced May 9 that they were splitting up after 25 years of marriage. Yet, Shriver moved out of the family’s Brentwood mansion earlier in the year after Schwarzenegger acknowledged the child is his.

Duchess Fergie: Wedding Rejection Was Hurtful

When you make headlines for not being invited to the Royal Wedding – especially when your children and ex-husband are – someone is bound to ask what you did instead.

Which is precisely what Oprah Winfrey inquired of Duchess Sarah Ferguson. The talk-show host's precise words: "Were you invited or were you not?"

"I was not invited, and I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia and ... the jungle embraced me," Fergie, 51, responds, in an interview taped Friday and set to air on Wednesday's The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Is This William & Kate's Island Paradise?

It certainly looks like a honeymoon suite fit for a prince and princess.

Without revealing its location in the Seychelles, Britain's Sun newspaper has published photos of what it says is the villa rented by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their post-wedding getaway.

And what a villa it is – a four-poster bed in the open air, with the Indian Ocean practically lapping against it, baths carved from marble, plush outdoor sofas and giant palm trees soaring over the private waterfront spread.

Princess Beatrice to Auction Off Wedding Hat on eBay

Loved the fascinator that Princess Beatrice wore to the Royal Wedding? Now it can be yours – for the right price.

"She's putting it up on eBay to auction it for UNICEF and for Children in Crisis," Beatrice's mother, Duchess Sarah Ferguson, announced Wednesday during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

For the April 29 wedding of her cousin Prince William to Duchess Catherine, Beatrice, 22, chose to top off her outfit with a blush-colored topper made by renowned London milliner Philip Treacy. The hat was so unusual that it instantly grabbed headlines, became an Internet sensation and became the focus on several Facebook fan pages.

Victor Garber to Play Prince Charles

The royal wedding may be over, but the TV movies keep on coming – and former Alias star Victor Garber is getting in on the action.

On the heels of the Lifetime movie about the newly married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Garber signed on to play William's father in the Hallmark Chanel's, William and Catherine: A Royal Romance. And it was a distinctive physical feature that got him the part.

"I'm playing Prince Charles, of course – we have the same ears," Garber, 62, told PEOPLE at the New York City Ballet Spring gala on Wednesday. "Nobody knows how he is with his boys privately, and that's what this movie is about. It's a very sweet story."
