George Michael Premieres Royal Wedding Charity Song

The upcoming nuptials of  England’s Prince William and Kate Middleton will be no ordinary wedding. And George Michael is giving the couple no ordinary gift.

On Friday night, Michael appeared on “Piers Morgan Tonight” to unveil “You and I,” his interpretation of the 1972 Stevie Wonder ballad. As a present to his fans, the song is now available as a free download on the singer’s Website. For Wills and Kate, he hopes that the fans who download the track will be moved enough to donate to The Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton Charitable Gift Fund.

This fund, as Ecorazzi described last month, has been set up by the couple in lieu of a traditional wedding registry. Beneficiaries of the fund include Beatbullying, Army Widows’ Association, and Earthwatch, among many other worthy organizations.

This is the second cover-track-for-charity Michael has produced in 2011.  Last month, he announced that the sales of his take on New Order’s “True Faith” will benefit Comic Relief
