LOS ANGELES.
Lindsay Lohan is heading to the big screen in the John Gotti biopic, after all — but it’s not as the mobster’s daughter.
Hours after Fiore Films confirmed to Access Hollywood that talks had broken off with the embattled actress to play the role of Victoria Gotti, John’s daughter, the film company announced she now will, in fact, appear in the film, playing Kim Gotti, the wife of John Gotti Jr., in “Gotti: Three Generations.”
“We’re very pleased to have Lindsay on-board for both of these films,” said Marc Fiore, executive producer and producer of “Gotti” and CEO of Fiore Films, said in a statement released to Access Hollywood late Wednesday afternoon. “She has been very enthusiastic about the Gotti project, and after resuming discussions with her, we were impressed by her commitment to the film and felt she would be a perfect Kim Gotti.”
Earlier in the day on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Fiore Films told Access Hollywood that Lindsay was out of the project, noting that “discussions have been broken between Fiore Films and Lindsay Lohan.”
Just last week, Lindsay turned up at the press conference for the film, expressing her interest in joining the project, which stars John Travolta.
“I’ve been speaking to some of the producers… and we’re discussing me possibly having a role in the film, which is very exciting,” Lindsay told a crew at the press conference for the project last week.
“I think it’s an amazing story in the things that the Gottis have gone through over the years and just everything that comes with that family. I think is an incredible story to tell,” she added.
In related news, director Nick Cassavetes, who was originally attached to the project, dropped out since the press conference over a reported scheduling conflict. A replacement has not yet been named.
