On a Saturday night, you’re not going to get much better than a Rod Stewart concert when hanging out in Hollywood. Especially when he’s performing the good old concert tunes of yesteryear with Stevie Nicks. Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks kicked off their two night stay in Los Angeles this past Saturday, in the midst of the Heart & Soul Tour, for audiences young and old. For 70 minutes, those at the Hollywood Bowl sang along to favorites like “Secret Love,” “Dreams,” “Stand Back” and more, favorites that got you instantly up off your feet.
Stevie Nicks was resilient with her guitar and steady microphone, as Rod Stewart bounced around from one end of the stage to the next attracting attention with his brightly colored suit jacketsand supple moves. During his set, Stewart went even as far back as Chuck Berry to cover tunes that remain crowd favorites though long gone from the pop charts. Of course, no Rod Stewart show would be truly complete without the final piece “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”
Not surprising, Rod Stewart hasn’t changed much in the four decades he’s been on the stage. The 66-year-old has managed to keep his music, his composure and his facial expressions intact through the rock ‘n’ roll ages, entertaining audiences through classic covers and the same ol’ stuff that got him famous in the ‘70s with The Jeff Beck Group. In tune and on point came “Forever Young,” “Reason to Believe” and “The First Cut is the Deepest.”
